I'm taking snapshots of a video at 720x480 pixels, but I want them at 640x480. I don't want to have to resize every one of them in Photoshop or Paint, so I force the aspect ratio to 4:3 and restart VLC. However, forcing the aspect ratio on snapshots no longer works thanks to the update, and even the Video snapshot width/height option is rendered useless. Is there a way I can get it to work again?

So uninstall the current VLC and get an earlier version. Go to the bottom of this page, look for "Older Versions", and click on "Our ftp archive": http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html. I'm using v.2.01.

All SD videos aren't always displayed as exactly 4:3. Some movies are 1.36:1. Some 16:9 aren't always displayed as exactly 1.7778:1, either. Earlier VLC's capped the image as displayed.
