I am authoring a DVD of different talent acts, and I'd like to be able to not only play the entire show, but also be able to play specific acts from the menu, and then have the player return the user back to the menu to select a new act. Is this possible without having to encode each act separately from the main video? The DVD will be too big with the quality settings I have set, if I have to put multiple clips on the disc. I'm hoping I can reference the same clip, and somehow to the player to play between timecodes or chapters. Is that possible?

    I'm using DVD Lab.

There is no exit point at a chapter although I have read you can do it with low-level utilities. But it is, if memory serves, quite difficult.

You are much better off encoding each act separately and use the playlist feature of DVDLab. So just one set of encodes, not two as you assume. A playlist for 'Play All' and a menu for individual titles.

The better pro/semi-pro apps that allow playlists (incl. DVD Architect & Encore) would have let you easily create a single title/asset/encode and have an end-action for each chapter + the aggregated "Play All". Have done this exact thing a dozen or more times in DVDA.
Not sure about DVDLab, since I rarely use it.

DVDLab Pro can do this with ease. Never used the 'Non Pro' so I hope I have not raised the OP's hopes too much
