    When I convert a 4:3 DVD to 16:9 (720x404)the AR is incorrect for 16:9,but if I use 640x360 the AR is correct. Why does 720x404 produce a compressed image. I'm using Vidcoder to make MKV's.

    Could it be that the original 4:3 dvd (NTSC) gets displayed at 640*480 (vertical resolution retained rather than horizontal)
