  1. Hi everyone.

Have read several threads and downloaded:

XviD4SP5, Avidemux 2.6, Riva FLV Encoder

I just can't get my MP4 to convert. When I try in each of the above programmes there's one error or another that stops the process working.

I'm a newbie and not that technical and just want a dead simple conversion - can anyone help?!!!

    Cheers,

    Shaun

WHY? Most web browsers and flash supports mp4 nowadays.

But can you convert the mp4 to other formats without problem? It might be corrupt.

  3. I need the video to play on our system at work. Hence the FLV. The MP4 works flawlessly on my personal machine. On my works machine it plays but with no sound - we need FLV for the 'thin client' to play the audio apparently.

But just try convert it to something else like avi and see how/if it works.

What video and audio codecs do you want? Because a flv and mp4 can contain exact same codecs. Like h264 video and aac audio.

  5. Ok. So tried it in Avidemux. Se the video and audio to copy, output format to FLV Muxer and ger error message saying "Unsupported - only FLV1 and VP6 supported for video".

Changed video to FLV1(flash) and then get error when I try to save saying: "Unsupportrd, only 44.1, ss.050 and 11.025kHz supported.

Changed output to AVI Muxer and the encoding seems to be working as I type. So just need to know how to get it to do it as a FLV!

No idea what codecs I need - sorry.

    Try xmedia recode.

Or maybe some very easy adware like freemake video converter, any video converter.

Or ffmpeg, ffmpeg -i video.mp4 -vcodec copy -acodec copy video.flv

And it plays at your system at work? If not you might have to change video or/and codec.

    Really appreciate your help.

You can try make some different flvs.

One with the flv codec and one with mpeg-4 avc h264 codec. Change it under Video and Codec.

You can also try make one with Mode: Copy under Video (no video reconversion).
