  1. I created a video slideshow that is in MP4 format and is 5.6 GB in size. I intended on being able to make copies for a group of people to give as a gift but now the file is bigger then a standard DVD. What can I do if anything?

    Thanks in advance

It works very similarly to burning a single layer DVD. With DVD-video, I'd recommend burning with ImgBurn. Since this is an MP4 and will be burned as data, you can use something else, but I haven't used anything except ImgBurn for many years.

One thing to note, you need to purchase Verbatim brand double layer discs. They should look like these, and have AZO on the side of the label. Verbatim are the only widely distributed DL discs that are reliable.

Are you putting it on the DVD just a method of portable storage/transfer, or are you intending to use the "DVD-Video" format to make it CE player compatible?

If the former, using a DL disc or other form of media (BD, USB, SDcard...) are all possibiliities, as is the (less preferrable) option of splitting the file & spanning multiple media.

If the latter, realize that the MP4 format has no basis in DVD-Video (it's just your source), so you will have to convert to standard MPEG2 and ignore the current filesize of the source and look instead at the running time. The resulting bitrate will be a function of this running time vs. the chosen disc capacity (4.37GB SL or 7.95GB DL).
