    Hi all,
I wonder what the highest resolution I should convert to for youtube upload.
I'm checking out the studio trial version and need to capture graphic visualizations in WMPLayer and ideally would like to edit (crossfades etc) in Sony Vegas Pro 12.
When I capture full screen and render to 1080p I get dropped frames during playback but need it to be as smooth as the visualization program I'm using (purchased version of White Cap).
Any ideas as to why I'm getting dropped frames on playback?
    Thanks very much,
    Randy

  2. Are their any dropped frames when previewed in a media player like MPCHC, VLC , Potplayer etc... or only in vegas ?

Are their dropped frames during the capture or only during playback ? (does your recording program report dropped frames) ?

    Some common causes:

If your computer isn't fast enough, or the visualization is too CPU intensive - the capture might have dropped frames

If your recording format is uncompressed, you might have transfer I/O issues - you would need a SSD or Raid-0 of mechanical drives .

If your recording was heavily compressed, it too can cause dropped frames during playback, or during recording because both require too much CPU

You can check what format you recorded with mediainfoxp

    Thanks for the fast reply!

I only tried it in WMPLayer so far

I erroneously thought I was posting to a forum for Movavi Screen Capture Studio...my bad...no apparent dropped frames during capture, only playback.
Movavi did not report dropped frames.

That's good news as this PC I'm using is just for internet etc (SSD OS drive but old processor with only 4 GB RAM) ...my work PC is very fast

The format would be whatever WMPLayer is with the White Cap visualizations. It looks great on a 42" 1080p TV display so I'm guessing that is the format it's recording?
I did notice my CPU usage reaching upwards of 70% in task manager but didn't check the SSD usage.

I'm not sure how to determine what format that this Movavi records in since it seems you have to convert it first but I think I'm going to have to RTFM before I go any further.
Thanks so much for your reply,
    Randy
