  1. I have been trying to use Subtitle Workshop to adjust the timing on some subtitles. I've been having a hard time trying to match the sub to the audio without being able to play the video at the same time. Is there a way to adjust the subtitle timing settings in real-time while the video is playing? As it stands, I have to close the timing window before any changes take effect. Thus I am constantly going back and forth between opening and closing windows to see the change. Very tedious.

For example, VLC keeps the subtitle settings window open while the video is playing so you can see the immediate effect of your subtitle speed change. It was very easy to move the speed scroll up or down until the subtitle matched the audio. It's just too bad VLC doesn't have the ability to save altered settings in the subtitle file. If only there was a subtitle +/-sync speed button in SW that one could press while watching the video it would make life much easier to match the subtitle to the audio--at least for me.

Otherwise, does SW have equivalent VLC sync settings such that I could just use those values in SW? I would love to be able to sync up the subtitles in VLC and use those values in SW to save them to the file. One file I synced up in VLC has the following settings:
    -6,300s SYNC SPEED
    1.000 fps SUB SPEED
    2.000 SUB DURATION

Anywhere in SW to use those values?
    Thanks.

I would try and see if Subtitle Edit has any better sync and play features.

  3. Yeah, I was going to try Subtitle Edit next. Looks like a nice program. I was holding off trying it because it requires NET Framework 4.5 and I didn't want to update to it. NET always adds so much sneaky crap onto your computer that you have to root out afterwards, so I was trying to avoid it. But I'll give it a whirl.

I was just hoping to get Subtitle Workshop working for me. I like everything about it except its sync functions.

    Thanks.
