  1. Hi, I've been encoding with tmpgenc, and now dvd2svcd for a while, but I'm having a potential problem with the star trek TNG episodes now. A very long encoding time, as in 14 hours. This may have been exceptable back with my 500 mghz k3, but now with Athlon 1900 it shouldn't take this long, especially for a 45 minute clip. Settings =

I thought I saw something about CCE taking too short of a time and it being an error, so I restarted it at the encoding stage but with the same timeframe. The only only other variable that might be the problem is that I ripped the dvd to my hd along with two others, in different directories of course, but I don't see this to be a problem. There are 4 episodes split between 8 vobs, but they seem linear. Did another already and it worked fine. Searched the forum too, to no avail. It's got me puzzelled, thanks for the help...

  2. most of the speed issues were in the newbie faq like which filters affect the what percent of speed. Hopefully we'll get that back. Your in DMA mode I assume. TMPEGEnc takes much longer than CCE to encode. I do a 4 pass vbr CCE usually between 8 to 12 hours depending on length of movie with XP 1600+. It used to take me 28 to 33 hours with a P450 III with CCE 3 pass vbr.

Also are those Star Trek episodes....dvd2avi probably detected IVTC which doubles your encoding time right there.
