Here's the Slo-Mo version. You'll have to add your own audio though...
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........ -

I watched Racer's slomo, and now I finally see something. That double flip is impressive.

"automatic" motion tracking this is actually very difficult - besides the obvious exposure issues, there are rolling shutter, compression artifacts, motion blur - all those things make it difficult to track or interpolate for slow motion because the edges are so ill defined. I'm not a fan of the edge morphing artifacts with interpolated frames - I think frame repeats work better here
You can actually re-create some of the missing data (the wheels might "disappear" in some frames - the "invisible bike") , by "borrowing" from other frames and manipulating the data by rotating, scaling and changing the perspective , but the problem for that type of approach is it might reduce the "authenticity" of the video.
Here is a rough shape mask from frames 69-110 in lagarith RGB. It's the same idea as jagabo's above, but it roughly conforms to the outline instead of being a static shape like a circle or square . If you had lots of time, you would punch out holes in the mask, and make it tighter, so that only the bike and rider are isolated and things like holes in the spokes would be present so the foliage wouldn't be part of the mask. Also attached is a clip using the mask - once normal speed, then slowed motion with duplicates, with higher contrast applied through the mask. -
Nice work PDR. Although the mask is visible, it's still a marked improvement.
I guess budwzr owes you $1,000,000,000,000 now.......Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........ -
Yes, it's just a rough roto mask - a "garbage matte" really. It's meant to highlight the area of interest, similar to jagabo's screenshot, or that you see on sports replays. But even if you spent more doing a better job on the roto, there is quite a bit of missing data and you have to "guess" where some things are like spokes on some frames. It would take quite of bit of work to do a "perfect" roto job on these few frames
I uploaded the wrong version of the matte ( cropped); here is a 1:1 1920x1080 so you should be able to drop it on frame 69 and it will be aligned instead of having to reposition it. -
That reward was for complete restoration, not improvement here and there.
What I've seen so far only qualifies for kudos and a "Yeoman's Try" shout-out, fer krisakes.
I'll admit the slomo/frame doubling makes it more viewable, and establishes the complexity of the stunt. You can see clearly that it's a skilled performance.Last edited by budwzr; 10th May 2015 at 16:16.

Ya, I know....
I'm still waiting for results from other posters in this thread. I'm curious to what they can do. In my opinion PDR got the best results so far..........Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........ -
Well, PDR has better software than us, so that's expected he's gonna jump in at the last minute with a winning hand.

Nah, I mostly Drag Raced on the Track and street. I've been quite successful however and I'm pretty happy to say that I did all my own work on the motors and chassis. I even got my real name in a national magazine.......
