  1. Hello

I have a Samsung DNIE TV 36" with Sony DVD player. DVD player is connected using some RGB bulk connector. Unfortunately this DVD player is not playing MP4 (MPEG formats) so would like to buy a new DVD player with max supporting video file formats and also ability to connect USB drives directly (USB pen drives / passport drives).

TV has one HDMI connector to which Virgin Media cable is connected but I can afford to disconnect it while DVD player is being played. So could anyone please recommend a DVD player (Blu-ray player is also fine but will consider only if not-much of cost difference) with USB & HDMI supporting maximum file formats.

I can afford upto £80 for DVD player.

Sorry for any mistakes in my post, appreciate your reply

    Thanks
    Bateman

  2. Be sure your mp4s are compatible with your current player. For example, if they are larger than standard definition they will not play. (Use MediaInfo to inspect your files.)

These days £80 can get you a low-end Blu Ray player which is likely to have more options.

The ability of DVD players to play media files has declined over the years, and many newer models only play DVDs, CDs, and photo CDs.

Blu-Ray players are a better bet for what you want. They play DVDs as well as Blu-Ray discs and many have built-in media players capable of playing mp4 files (with some restrictions) as well as other types of media files.

Looks like smrpix beat me to it.

[Edit]Think about an HDMI switch to save wear and tear on your HDMI connections. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kinivo-301BN-Premium-wireless-adapter/dp/B0049S6ZUS/
