    HI,

Newbie question...do 3D bluray players play 3D movie in MKV format from USB? Lets say, how about Samsung BD-F5500 player?

    Thanks.

    Some do, some don't.

That Samsung doesn't look like it is very versatile, at least in the USB player department.

First, what exactly do you mean by "3D MKV"?
    • If MKV with the original ripped MVC encoding? - No. It won't play.
    • If Dual-stream? - No.
    • If SbS/TaB re-encode? - Yes, it should play (as 2D, until you manually set your 3DTV to accept that 3D format), within the usual codec & level/profile restrictions.

Thank you Scott. By 3D MKV I meant, the movie format you find on the internet for 3D ripped movies.

How about the Codec mentioned in the image?

You say "format" like it can only be one type and yet I have already mentioned 3 types and could probably name 12 more.

The type described in your posted image most closely matches my 3rd listed item, but that still doesn't clarify the layout (metadata rarely does for this). What does the file look like when played on a PC in 2D mode with a standard media player (wmp,mpchc,vlc...)?

BTW, if you want to provide the most details on your media, use the Advanced mode detailed text export of MediaInfo.
