NLEs are not hard to use, anyone with an average intelligence or above can learn it!

However what you need to do is invest the time to learn!

So skip that useless soap opera or talent show tonight and watch one of the many free instructional videos on using an NLE on YouTube!

Once you have done it you will thank me for it!

    Yes!!

Vegas and Premiere Pro are nice.

Avid announced they will provide a free version of Media Composer called Media Composer First!

When will it be out? Soon! They like to keep us in suspense!

Sony Movie Studio starts at $49, and you can trade up through several versions at full value. So you don't lose any money starting at the cheaper end. It's the same software as Vegas Pro, just less features.

Takes about a year to outgrow it. The Sony toolset is unique in the fact that you can "chain" the tools together to create more complex composites and fX.

The secret to Sony Vegas is to avoid using the "canned" fx and transitions, and play with each tool separately to instill in your mind what it does, and how that can combine with other tools to manually create all of the canned transitions/fX. That way you can do custom work that looks professional.

  10. So many Sony employees here

If the OP wants something dead simple, why no one recommend CyberLink's PowerDirector ?
Stopping development until someone save me from poverty or get me out of Hong Kong...

Because PD has a stigma of newby. And it can't get you far. Also, the "Sony" product is actually made by an old established American company. Vegas was originally an audio editor.

Myself, I don't like Sony the corporation. But Vegas Pro is a rock solid NLE with plenty of advanced features and concepts. Not a toy $99 software.
