First, I am brand new here. I selected VidCoder to convert a video that I uploaded from a DVD that I made to mp4 so I could put it on our Kindle Fire 8.9. The film was successfully converted, but when I played it back the sound and picture were unstable - jittery for lack of a better word.
    Thanks, John

  2. I see people talking about using Handbrake with the iPad preset for the Kindle Fire.

What video settings are you using? Resolution and fps.
Choose the ipad preset as jagabo mentions. You can do that in vidcoder also.

I converted the video to mp4 with VidCoder and when I opened it to play it the video was distorted. I used the iPad setting. It might be easier just to buy the video from Amazon and upload it.

I never was all that savvy regarding the techniques in video.

Google kindle fire max/highest video settings. Be sure to not use any higher video resolution/frame size than that in vidcoder. Convert.

Or just buy/rent the video as you say...

Have you tried installing the VLC video player on the Kindle, or the CineXplayer. I use the CineXplayer without any problems. They are both free apps.

I did install the VLC app on the Kindle - the Kindle will only seem to allow certain types of video files, though. In order to use VLC, how should I upload videos? As an mp4? Thanks for all the advise.

VLC will play just about any format, mp4, avi, divx, xvid, mkv. You'll get the best quality with either mp4 or mkv. I usually use Format Factory to convert to any of these formats. I use VOBtoMPG to rip a DVD and then use the VOB1 to load into FF. You have to experiment to get best results for you. Play around with it. It's a good learning lesson.

I was successful in uploading a video - finally. I converted and saved a video with Handbreak as a .mp4 to a file and then copied it to the Kindle Fire and it opened correctly. Thanks for all the suggestions
