Youtube video mask/ or template.. and can you remove it?!

Lately I've been noticing a lot of people upload youtube videos with this masks around it.. likr this one for example.

I've seen same stuff with tv shows. why do people do that? copyrights or smth?
I was wondering is that smth they add on youtube and is it possible to get fullscreen original video without that stuff around it or is the video originaly made like that? it says here in the title video is HD but really makes no sense when you only have video in one quarter of the screen.

It's an advertisement as much as a show. That's how the sponsors get their name in front of you.

ok, I realized I used a bad example with that football video. Take this for example...

it's not advertisment for anything.. just some silly mask with chairs.. and I have seen that same thing on tones of different channels not just this one so obviously it's not smth ppl do individually but can somehow just add on their videos. I was just wondering can you extract just the video.
