Is there a replacement for Media Hint?

Hello all. This may or may not be the right place to post this question. I have no idea.

I used to use an add on called Media Hint. I found one reference to it here, but it was part of a discussion that I had no understanding of.

If I recall, I lost that utility with a particular Firefox upgrade, but I couldn't tell you which one it was. If the add on isn't in VideoHelp, I'm guessing it doesn't exist anymore. Is there something else I can use?

I don't have any preference, although I don't like Google. I know nothing about a Google region fix for streaming video. I'll take whatever works.

I don't think I have been understood, amazingly. I stated, simply, that Media Hint stopped working for me. I don't need to find it. If drtech is telling me, cryptically, to pay for my solution, then he can just say so plainly. Maybe others, more forthcoming, can tell me whether my money would be well spent. That's my main concern. I don't think Media Hint will be expensive. But, on the other hand, If there are companies offering solutions for free, I haven't had a raise in 9 years, despite working full time. I don't earn a living wage. I can't even afford the market rate, here in Toronto, for a bachelor apartment. I share facilities, have no privacy and my quality of life suffers greatly because of that. So forgive me if I look for freebies now and then.
