    Hi guys,

I'm having a bit of a problem here. I made a soccer video and it looks good and everything. Except for the fact that there are no name tags. Allow me to explain: the video is about the most beautiful goals. What I want to do is insert a name tag that says who scored the goal, against what team and when. So basicallly thig tag has to appear when each goal starts and it should disappear as the clip plays. I know it's kind of hard to help me out on a forum but a youtube video would be good as well, even better. It's just that I couldn't find one. I hope you guys understand what I'm looking for. It's a name tag like they show on the news when someone gets interviewed. Thanks in advance !

Just found out they're called "lower thirds". Just need a good tutorial now. I want them to look modern and professional.

I couldn't find any tutorial for Sony Vegas Pro 13. Old tutorials don't work for me since they look kinda amateurish

  4. Here's one for Movie Studio. Should be similar for Vegas Pro. This one does more but you should get the picture.

You have to make that up yourself in a graphics program like PhoShop. Then you slide it in.

In Vegas Pro, that would be using the TrackMotion tool. If you want to add animation "flair" to it, then there are other tools to squeeze, stretch, etc.

Timing can be manipulated via keyframes. Just dig around in the tools.

If you have no artistic ability, look for something you like with Google, then edit it and change the wording, slogan, logo whatever. If you have no ability at all, then you're hosed.

Not sure why anyone would be using Vegas Pro 13 not even knowing how to make a lower thirds graphic.

The difference between "professional looking" and "amateur looking" is a sense of design. The technique is identical.

OK, well you need to learn how to make graphic elements first. They're much easier to create in graphics software. Then you bring them in to Vegas Pro.

Google for "lower third elements" in Google and use the results for a rough template, or as inspiration. When you get a graphic ready, come back here and we'll show you how to animate it.

In order to build your own element(s), you need to get familiar with layering and transparency in a graphic. How to build up, and flatten, a finished image.

If you copy my whole previous paragraph into google, you'll probably get some good results.
