Yes, off topic. This thread is about the helping someone record from their DirecTV box using their HD-PVR 2, which is entirely feasible. Your craptastic video-mangling gadget is NOT able to help someone use their HD-PVR 2 for recording TV, and it costs 4 times more than a splitter. Nobody asked for an alternative.
If the HDML Cloner box box was worth a pound of piss for recording TV it would either record 1080i as 1080i or deinterlace it properly as 1080p60

you really have attitude problems
and media info reports 1080i when using that setting -
Since the manufacturer's published specs don't agree, I'd say you are not being truthful. According to http://www.cloner-alliance.com/hdmicloner-box-suite.html all recordings are progressive.
Permitted input resolutions are: 1920x1080 (50p), 1920x1080 (60p). 1920x1080 (24p), 1920x1080 (25p), 1920x1080 (30p), 1920x1080 (50i), 1920x1080 (60i), 1280x1024 (60p). 1280x720 (60p), 1280x768 (60p), 1280x800 (60p). 720x480 (60i), 720x480 (50i). 640x480 (60p), 720x480 (60p), 720x576 (50p)
The only recording resolutions are listed as: 1920x1080 (24p), 1920x1080 (25p), 1920x1080 (30p) 1280x720 (50p), 1280x720 (60p), 640x480 (60p), 720x480 (60p), 720x576 (50p)
Your crappy device deinterlaces 1920x1080 (60i) and records it as 1920x1080 (30p), which means it is discarding half the video information available from the input. -
Well guess I'll have to make a test and find out
Could be a faulty memory
Of course you've never had that problem -
I've used it several times
That doesn't mean I have the files in front of me now
I made my previous post statements about media info from memory about recordings made months ago
Right this moment I'm on my tablet, not the PC with the external drives and the files
Have you always been this way -

Judging by the way you treat me and others
Your list is very long -

And just to be sure, these are the correct pieces needed to pull this off with the DirecTV HR34-700?

Link one is for the same splitter I bought and still recommend.
The HD-PVR 2 Gaming Edition is not one of the preferred versions of the HD-PVR 2 for capturing TV. The HD-PVR 2 Gaming Edition doesn't have digital optical audio input and, as I recall, does not capture AC3 audio from HDMI either. It will only capture audio as two-channel AAC.
If you were hoping to capture the original 5.1 channel AC3 audio from a set top box, you need either the HD-PVR Gaming Edition Plus or the HD-PVR 2 non-gaming edition with the blue stripe. -
Before I checkout, here are the parts Im about to order. Let me know if this is the right combo for the DirecTV HR34 (below). Much appreciated!

Yes, those are the right items. I bought shorter HDMI cables because of my particular layout, but the same brand.
