Hello guys, this is my first post on the forum.

I upload subtitles once and a while on Subscene.com. I've got a problem with people uploading copies of my subtitles all the time. Often they vary 50 bytes or less in size and I can't find the difference between mine and theirs.

Is there a program I can use to check where the changes are between 2 files? As it is now I risk flagging a perfectly good improvement as a stolen subtitle.

I hope you guys can help me.

Unless you obtain an agreement with the copyright holder they are not your subtitles.

Subtitles, are protected derivative works according to copyright law.

So the irony: you complain that work you stole is stolen by others.

Personally I have no problems with people making subtitles but to claim they are yours and your efforts to protect them borders absurdity.

If you made the subs originally then you have a right to complain, contact Subscene.com and explain the situation and they should take down the copied subs as long as you can prove original ownership.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

Assuming your subs are .srt, give ExamDiff a try. There's lots options of how you want to view the differences.

Thank you, I'll check it out.

And newpball. Why did you respond if you had nothing to add? I don't steal subtitles, I make them or edit them with direct permission from the copyright holder.

Frankly I doubt it, but even then they would still not be yours!
