Ok, I finally got a movie converted and split then burned... the quality was well I shall not use the word that comes to mind , so after doing some research on this site I've decided it kick VCD encoding in VideoStudio6 out the door and use TMPGEnc instead. Is this a good idea? seems pretty good, plus which templet would you guys recommend? I want to be able to burn VCD or SVCD (which ever looks best) and space wise I'm willing to use 2cds per 2hour movie for storage because like I said I want good quality.

Any suggestions would help alot.... also I'm kicking EasyCd in favor of Nero for burning... I think that might help, also as I've used it quite a bit in the past and know the app alot better.

The template (ie the setings) will depend on what you DVD player can take.

Personal suggestion is to use a xVCD if your can, quality is higher, but you can put an hour of great looking video in MPEG-1 format on 1 CD. or 2 cd's per movie.

Look under tools to the left, or my site below for some templates.

  4. I dunno... The APEX units seem to be able to handle anything you throw at them but if you're like me you might want to be able to trade your CD's with friends at times and their DVD players might not handle the format of the "off-standard" xVCD or xSVCD.

I Prefer to use the SVCD standard so I don't have to depend on just MY player. Besides, it sucks to take a movie over to a friends house and have it NOT work. It's also kinda embarassing if you were the one responsible for the movie 'cause someone else got the beer!

I think those folks that burn stuff that only works in their player must never go out into the world with the rest of the living. Just seems wierd.
