i have searched a lot to solve this problem but in-vain and i see that the problem about merging the translation file with the mp4 file in one mkv file cause i tried movies like that and it worded
but when i have tried to merge with mkvtoolnix it has the same problem
i need a tool to merge the translation with movie but from inside , i do know may be making the translation in the movie
sorry about my bad english -
Unfortunately your English has enough problems that it is very difficult for us to understand your problem. I think where you say you have a "seperated translation file" you mean to say you have "an external subtitle file", that is, a separate file that only contains the subtitles that is NOT part of the MP4 file. Is that right?
Please try to do a screen capture of the subtitles when they are displayed and post it here as your description of the problem is not very good. Seeing the problem may help us to understand what you want to do. -
I'm so sorry about my horrible English language, Unfortunately i can not upload the problem but i will try to describe it again more clearly.
i have on my laptop movies with MP4 extension with external subtitle file (Arabic language) with SRT extension ok
i need to watch or display these movies on my TV with type of tornado LED TV ok
when i put these movies on a usb flash drive and try to watch it on these TV it does not supports an external subtitle file because the problem of the Arabic translation that appears as icons incomprehensible or language , and i tried to call the costumer service or Technical support of these TV company (Tornado Elaraby) they told me that this TV type does not supports an external subtitle file and i should convert these MP4 movies to RMVB and merge the external subtitle file with in the movies and indeed it works but the problem is it took too long time about 20 hour continuously.
i tried to search on the web about any solution to my problem i found some programs merge the external subtitle file with the movie and convert it to MKV like MKVTOOLNIX but the problem remained.
by the chance my brother gave me a movie with MKV file extension and these was no external subtitle file with it and when i tried this movies it works fine ( the subtitle obtained well with out strange letters or language or parallel squares)
and i tried to upload some pics not from my TV but it look like the problem i face with my TV after hundreds of tries>
PLZ HELP ME -
Presumably you selected a font that does not support your required character set. Experiment with different fonts to see which ones work.
-
man i think it is a problem of how to make the external translation internal permanently with a process to convert the movies extension to MKV or RMVB in easy and quick way i do not know how but it should be like that because this is only movies work for me.
some guys tell me about staxrip, but i get bored of failed tries.
and please note that this pictures which i uploaded it is not from my TV it is from web they look like the problem i have, because i have a problem to get pics from my TV, but i will try in next time. -
Since our TV works with a MKV file containing a subtitle here is my shoot:
Open your SRT with Notepad. Save As. Make sure the encoding is UTF-8 (In bottom of Save window).
Merge (mux) your MP4 and SRT together to a MKV with MKVMergeGUI.
If this doesn't work: Extract the subtitles from the MKV that works with MKVExtractGUI2 or gMKVExtractGUI and attach it to a post here. -
unfortunately i have done two things and get no good result
first i opened the external SRT translation file with notepad and changed the encoding to UTF-8 and saved and after this i merged files the movie file and external translation file with mkvtoolnix but the translation appeared in strange symbols like the pic in the attachments
second i tried the two programs u mentioned to extract the translation file from MKV movies which worked for me i found out that there is no translation file extracted only the audio and file with extension of H264 as in the attachments> nad the last uploaded pic is to the original film which worked for me

it gives me ( preview clip generation failed. see the log window for details ) message when i tried to preview a sample , and by the way i tried to wait when it finished with all settings showed in your link it gives me no thing only the sample video you sent it to me with video.ass works
-
If the sample with .ass works you can convert the .srt with either Subtitle Edit or Aegisub. Also note in the sample the subtitles are both as a separate file as well as in the MKV itself. I don't know which your TV is using but you can merge the subtitles with MKVMergeGUI.

[Attachment 31211 - Click to enlarge] still nothing,
your translation when i put it into the subtitle edit program it gives me like in the pic in the attachment
but when i put the any of my .srt translations it give me like in the attachment and when i try to change encode to your ass translation file it gives me the same pic ( second one) in the attachments.
and i think these strange symbols in the second pic are the one which is shown on my TV when i try to play a movie,
but strangely when i play the same movie on my laptop by VLC media player it gives me correct arabic translation and as before when i edit this srt of the external file and and change encode to utf 8 it gives me on vlc the same strange symbols which i mentioned before.Last edited by maxtime; 13th Apr 2015 at 15:38.

Opened it in Notepad++. Encoding -> Characterset -> Arabic -> Windows 1256. Encoding -> Convert to UTF-8

FINALLY I FOUND A SOLUTION I CAN NOT BELIEVE MY SELF
1- go to control panel --> region and language --> formats ---> choose your language of your country ( for me Arabic(Egypt) ) --> location (choose your location for me Egypt) -->administrative --> change system locale ( choose your language and country of this language for me Arabic (Egypt)) and then restart.
2- open SubtitleEdit program and put the external translation .srt file in it and change format to advanced sub station .ass and save
3- open mkvtooolnix and put the movie file and the .ass external translation file and merge them together, then you have one MKV file.
4- open VidCoder-1.5.26-Beta-x86-Portable and choose the video source the MKV movie file in it ----> and then choose subtitles edit ----> mark on the unknown (SSA) and mark on burn in and then wait approx 1 and half hour.
but last question i noticed that in the translation these are some squares and, is there another program instead VidCoder make the burn in faster.
many thanks to you all especially((( videobruger )))
cause this one really really helped me too much to fix my problem
and i hope to make this thread sticky to help all the people having the same problem.
see you soon in a different problem
