The volume in powerdvd 14 and arctsoft tmt 3 is quiet compared to powerdvd10 on my system. I dont wont to keep using pdvd 10 as it has other limitations.

Is this a codec issue and how to i go about fixing it? there is no options in the players that do anything.

    please help, thanks

  3. The audio gain and/or mixing is set differently in the different players. You should be able to control that in the audio settings for the players.

this has to be an issue on my system. I have tried every conceivable setting in the players & it does nothing.

So I'm looking for help on tweaking something more advanced, like codecs or something, if someone can point me in the right direction.

  5. The most likely issue is that PowerDVD 10 is using a built in AC3 decoder, but the other players are using a system installed DirectShow AC3 decoder. AC3 audio is usually encoded at a fairly low level so some decoders automatically apply gain, some do not. You'll need to figure out what AC3 decoder you're using and adjust its settings.

Use a player that lets you view what filters are being used and adjust them, like MPCHC. Disable MPCHC's internal AC3 decoder (View -> Options -> Internal Filters -> disable AC3 in the Transform Filters box) so it will use the installed decoder, exit the program, then restart it (the change doesn't take effect until the next time the player is started). While playing a video file with AC3 audio right click on the window and hover over Filters. You'll see a menu of the filters that are currently in use. You can click on the audio decoder and adjust its settings.
