Pinnacle 18 Ultimate... HELP

Okay. I am having trouble with making video faster using Pinnacle 18 Ultimate.
I isolated the scene by cutting the beginning and end away from the main footage, and when I go to "Speed" and make it 187% the scene still acts like it is part of the main footage and disappears due to the speed. I just want to make the people in the video move as in real time and not really slow like it shot from the 18mm tape from the projector.
