cutting a divx movie in half-HELP

i have two movies which are 1200 big
but i cant seem to cut them in half
i made them using gordian knot and have tried avi chop
which does seperate them but the file are damaged and wont play
and i have tried virtualdub
which cuts the video fine but loses the audio near the start

also i have tried avi edit and that dos'nt work
help me please

Well im not an expert i done my first rip the other day so i may b wrong.

U could use a converter and convert it to mpeg and make it a lower bit rate and audio rate so it would b smaller.

Or u could encode it again, i used DVDx, then select a smaller bit rate, and less quality, worse sound etc. That would make it smaller, but ud have to re-encode it.
