Hello,
I need to rip a segment from an MP4 file.
- I noticed that AviDemux 1) even when choosing to re-encode the video stream, doesn't start at the right frame (it seems to start at the last keyframe), and 2) doesn't display frame numbers (only time.)
- VirtualDub does display the frame numbers, but only saves videos as AVI.
- ffmpeg doesn't seem to support starting/ending at given frames either.
So I was wondering if there's a free basic NRE for Windows that can 1) reliably re-encode at a given frame, and 2) save files as MP4 (h264 + aac)?
Thank you.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Virtualdub with ffmpeg external encoder is one solution, https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/367446-Virtualdub-External-Encoder-feature
I haven't seen any other basic editor with frame number cutting. -
Thanks. Seems a bit complicated to set up for me. I'll reluctantly use Corel VideoStudio, then (wanted something lighter for a quick job).
Incidently, why does VirtualDub 1) still uses AVI instead of MP4, and 2) only supports Xvid?
