Hi all,
First, I'm an absolute noob at all of this, so please bear with me. I am using Digiarty's DVD Ripper to copy DVDs I already own to MP4 files so I can view them on my iPad, XBox, and Galaxy Tab S. I haven't had problems until I copied several old war movies in my collection. Titles like Battle of Britain, A Bridge to Far, etc. My challenge is that when playing directly from the DVD either from a DVD player or on my PC, they play where only the German conversations have subtitles showing in English. When actors are speaking English, no subtitles present. I checked and 'no subtitles' is selected from the DVD menu. That is the preferred way I want them to play.
However, when I copy the movie, the movie plays fine but it is stripping off that German only translation. If I copy it with English subtitles, then ALL of the conversations including the ones already in English all have subtitles. This gets annoying.
What am I messing up in the copy process to get it to play as it does directly from the DVD? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dud

You need to find a "forced subtitles" file for the movie. It may be on the DVD or maybe one is available on one of the subtitle websites.
for example http://tinysub.net/subtitles/battle-of-britain/english/601799SONY 75" Full array 200Hz LED TV, Yamaha A1070 amp, Zidoo UHD3000, BeyonWiz PVR V2 (Enigma2 clone), Chromecast, Windows 11 Professional, QNAP NAS TS851 -
Thanks netmask. I grabbed the forced subtitles 'non-english' only, selected 'subtitles' in Digiarty and added the forced subtitles file. Still came out without the non-english subtitles. I'm sure it's something I'm doing, but I just can't figure out what...

Yes. You are using Digiarty converter....
Try vidcoder, open the dvd and import the external subtitles. https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/364372-How-to-easily-burn-in-hardcode-srt-subtitles...-with-VidCoder
