I´ve been ripping dvd´s for quite a few, and i recently noticed that my vcd´s have incompatibility problems with some dvd players. Is it an authoring problem?...
I am using ULEAD DVD Movie Factory for adding a menu/chapters to my movie and burn the vcd... is this the problem?, is the program incompatible with some dvd players?, if this is the case, which one is the most compatible program to do the job?.

Another question... i encode my movies with TMPEG encoder with the "highest quality" option. Does this option affect the playback performance on the dvd player?, because i´m suspecting that.
I noticed sometimes that the movies i´ve encoded with the "normal" video setting run smoother than the ones with the "highest quality" setting.

And the last, but not least silly question... i´m burning my vcd movies at 24X, is this the problem?... do i need to burn them slower?

Sorry for all the stupid questions, but i just don´t know what else to try...

Is this true, or i´m just going paranoid?

    Thanx

    Sorry!

    Problems like:

1- Sometimes, the menu appears with a color bar right through the middle of the screen.
    2.- Noise in the movie
3.- the image appears as slides it moves, then stops, then moves again, and so on.
4.- pixels through all the screen

This is in some dvd players, i have a JVC XV-523 and thank god all the movies run just perfect here, but when i take my movies to a friend´s house... in his dvd player the things are not the same. Knowing this, i´ve tested my vcd´s in as many dvd players as i could, and the results vary depending on the brand and model.

That´s why i wanted to know if this is a compatibility problem.

    Thanks for your patience!

    Kindest Regards

  4. That sounds like a media compatibility issue.

Not all DVD players are designed to read CD-R or CD-RW media and those that aren't not surprisingly often don't do it well or at all. This is probably why some of your VCDs don't work properly on your friend's player.
