aTube Catcher on a computer running Linux Mint?

I'm currently "playing" with my laptop, having installed the current version of Linux Mint on a new hard drive.

I'd read somewhere that if you install aTube Catcher in "WINE", it should be fine.

I've tried twice to install it, and right at the end it says something or other won't "register", and as a result the program won't run. (Even trying to uninstall it from the WINE part of the desktop "Menu" leads to the computer saying there is no "package" associated. It must never have actually installed.)

Has anyone here manged to use aTube Catcher on a Linux computer? If so, HOW?

Maybe because it want to install the WinpCap driver.

Or try livestreamer. It supports lots of sites: http://livestreamer.readthedocs.org/en/latest/plugin_matrix.html#plugin-matrix and should work in linux.

Actually, aTube Catcher downloads entire video files and stores them on your hard drive for you to look at even when you're not online. I think it does have some streaming abilities, but I don't know how to use that.

This is why I was looking for anyone who'd gotten aTC to work on Linux. I'd read somewhere it can be done, but it sure didn't work for me last night.

I'd tried an add-on for Firefox that should be able to do the same thing, but it wouldn't let you get all the versions of the videos. For example, a video that was there in 480 and other formats, you could only download in 360 or 720.

On a YT video letting people know about the add-on something had been said about YouTube not supporting other formats, but they were right there as formats you could use to play the video. Why the add-on won't let you download them is...weird.

I think livestreamer can download also(like add "-o video.mp4" to the command line). But it might be a bit too complex. But if you want youtube video then try youtube-dl, https://www.videohelp.com/tools/youtube-dl

I can't help with atube catcher though as I no longer try adware crap software...and I don't have any linux here. .

Have done this and it does work.

However, 4k Video Downloader for Yt and other sites :

This is just brilliant as it gives you all the video formats available for the video you want to download - including 1080p.

Well, it works for me , everytime. Best of all it`s free.

I tried install it and I couldn't see any adware.
