  1. I have a TV Sharp LC-42A53M and would like to know if it is OK to take to Canada from the UAE. Will it work?
The input voltage is 120-240 so that's OK.

My question is, the manual says the colour system is:
    PAL/SECAM/NTSC 3.58/NTSC 4.43/PAL 60

I have no idea what the 3.58 and 4.43 mean.
Will this TV work in Canada?

That looks like it has everything covered, not sure about the tuner though. A TV from outside of North America is basically more "universal" than one bought in North America.
Nowadays there is usually a tuner/cable box in between the wall and the TV with an HDMI connection anyway so as long as it is 110 - 240V you should be good to go.
Hopefully you will only need to change one power cable like this one:

NTSC 3.58 is a standard NTSC signal. 3.58 refers to the color subcarrier, 3.58 MHz.

NTSC 4.43 uses encoding (525/29.97) with a color subcarrier of 4.43 MHz instead of 3.58 MHz. As is the case with PAL 60, it is generated by some PAL VCRs, game systems, and laser disc players when they play NTSC material.

You can use the TV's analog tuner for analog cable, or connecting a cable box, VCR or other consumer electronics that provides an RF/coax connection and provides audio and video via analog channel 3 or 4.

If it has one, the TV's digital tuner is for DVB-T and won't work for over-the-air broadcasts in N. America. The US and Canada use ATSC for over-the-air broadcasts. You will need an external tuner for over-the-air TV, or you will need a subscription to a paid TV service that provides a set top box.

  5. Great, I will not have any problems with this TV in Canada. Most everything requires a set-top box nowadays.
    Thanks for that.
