I want to hook up a webcam to the ceiling about 20 feet or so away from the computer. I could certainly run a long usb cable with an active repeater in it, that's no problem, aside from the wire. I've seen a few wireless usb transmitters, but dont' know if they work.. i.e. plug the webcam into the transmitter, and plug the receiver into the computer.. Anyone have experience with these, especially with USB 2.0 webcams?

  2. Never used one and never heard of them, might be that they are not very popular or don't work that well or just that for that kind of money you would be better off with an IP camera.

That is, by far, the best solution!

Forget wireless USB video, you are asking for trouble. Wireless IP based is better but still wired is top!

Thanks I will stick with a long cable, now just have to come up with a decent ceiling mount and I'll be good to go
