    Hi:
I am recording TV at 1080p on a Hauppauge Colossus card via component video. I am then using Tmpgenc Video Mastering Works 5.5.2.107 (the latest) to convert to an Avi using Xvid codec. I enter the output resolution as 720x404 and convert. The process is flawless except the picture has black horizontal bars top and bottom. The original fills the screen perfectly.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks

I have no idea whether it affects the results you are getting, but the resolution reported for your original recordings isn't accurate. The Colossus can only capture at 1080i, maximum. The Colossus 2 can record at 1080p30, but it was only released a few days ago, so is doubtful that you have one already.

  3. Set the Xvid codec to square pixel aspect ratio.

  4. In VMW5, set your picture resize filter to Full screen (no margin) and uncheck Keep Aspect ratio
