Hi, I've ripped several dvds and converted them to vcd using smartripper, dvd2avi, tmpg, and nero, but it seems lie on all ot them there are certain spots where the video goes super fast for about a second. Does anybody know wat causes this or how to fix it? I've been using inverse telecine instead of forced film, because everytime i used forced film, I had huge sync problems between audio and video.

you should use forced film if the video source is majority FILM, progressive (not using forced film in these cases may not be good)
the audio sync problems can be caused by dvd2avi...the latest version of dvd2avi has been giving ppl some audio sync problems, try switching to an older version and enabling forced film and not use IVTC in tmpgenc....the problem might go away -
it's possible your dvdplayer is doing a poor job of telecining 24fps material. does it exhibit the same behavior with 29.97fps encodes? incompatible cdr media or high burn speed might be the culprit as well
