We've had threads on the View-HD and various splitters that can apparently take care of the HDCP issue, but the drawbacks I see here are 1) Inputs: these recorders stand or fall on the inputs they happen to offer, this one being rather deficient on good quality inputs (I don't know about the SCART thing, not being in the U.K. or wherever else their use may be prevalent), & 2) this looks like it comes from yet another Chinese electronics Co., and so is likely junk . . . .
I read through a number of threads on Elegato vs. Avermedia vs. whatever, but never reached any conclusion as to which solution might be the all-around-best. So I never bought any of them, just continued to watch the discussion from the sidelines.
