Hello. I've recently dloaded dvdrebuilder from this site and used it 3 or 4 times with excellent results but this time a message
Run-time error '9' subscript out of range
pops up when I select the source directory.
I tried changing the directory of the VIDEO_TS folder but it didn't work (and that's all I could think of, which is the worst part of the problem)
It's a 2005 commercial dvd we're talikng about.
VLC and dvdshrink accept the VIDEO_TS folder without any problem. I've used dvdshrink in the past but it's 7.79 g movie and I've read dvdrebuilder does a much better job with big movies.
Can you please help me?
THe threads dealing with dvdrebuilder errors are several years old. That's why I started a new one.

What did you use (tool) to rip the DVD to the hard drive? Post a directory listing of VIDEO_TS folder.

Umm... The DVD structure seems to be OK. You didn't say which program you used to rip the DVD to the hard drive. I hope you're not trying to use DVD-RB on the original disc! That won't work.
Try using DVD Shrink (in Re-author mode if you want just the main movie, or in Full Disc mode otherwise) to rip the disc, setting the target DVD size to DVD-9 in the preferences, so that DVD Shrink won't perform any compression. Then use DVD-RB on the resulting folder."The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist." -
You're going to love this. The error you report was supposedly fixed about 10 years ago.
Go here and read the very first post, which is from the guy who created DVD Rebuilder. He has a suggested fix for the problem, but again, this was supposedly fixed about 10 years ago. If this doesn't fix your problem, try ripping again.

DVDShrink is a VERY BAD choice for ripping. It hasn't been updated in many many years. AnyDVD is not free, but it's the only ripper I recommend any more. -
Those errors were related to the encoding process. The OP states that error occurs when selecting source folder. I guess that means some trouble with the ripping procedure.
DVDFab Decrypter should also do the trick, and it's free."The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist." -
I vaguely remember something like this happening to me a while back. It "might" be your antivirus interrupting DVD-RB.
EDIT: My problem would occur during the "building" phase, where it would crash and give a run-time error. I tried disconnecting my ethernet cable, temporarily disabled my AV, and it low and behold, problem solved.Last edited by louv68; 9th Feb 2015 at 19:03.

This is a decent suggestion, but I don't recommend it for 2 reasons.
1) DVDFab's current legal issues in the USA may or may not make it difficult to track down the current version of the program.
2) Recent users in the past few years, including me, have found that it is apparently impossible to run the free version forever. All we've been able to determine is that people who YEARS ago installed it can still update it for free, but the current "free" version either can't actually be run for free for more than 30 days or nobody who knows how to run it for free for longer will talk about it.
I'm not saying don't use DVDFab. If someone uses it and has none of the problems I mentioned, then more power to you. I'm just pointing out why I don't recommend it. -
We don't know the OP's location. It may not be in the USA.
I've heard that argument more than once. I have bought my current computer 2 years ago and I reinstalled my OS from scratch less then a month ago. On both occasions I installed DVDFab and I can assure you that the free portion of it works like it's supposed. Some people say that only users that have DVDFab isnstalled for years can use the free version. That's NOT true. I use it after installing it afresh several times, recently."The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist."
