I captured my subject matter with 3 cameras side by side parallel, pointing the same direction. I would like the ability to pan and scan across the 3 shots seamlessly with one 16x9 frame. Anyone know the most affordable software to accomplish this?

  2. Low budget Cinerama, eh Able Gance?
The most affordable would be Avisynth. You can StackHorizontal your 3 shots then use Animate to add moves.

Other alternatives would be to use an NLE like Vegas Movie Studio and use the pan and crop functions.

@LankyActor, I think you will find that your shooting arrangement is doing you a disservice. 3 cams shooting side-by-side parallel might be useful for a few stereoscopic effects, but you will encounter overlap & repetition in the image if you pan across 3 images. This problem becomes particularly glaring if you have something in the foreground. Exception: the cams are spaced V__E__R__Y.......F__A__R.......A__P__A__R__T.
In that way, in essence you are removing any overlap.

The proper way to get what you were intending would be to shoot at angles that subtend an arc of a single "virtual camera" which is behind the 3 cams. Here is an example:

Then, the aforementioned AVISynth technique would work VERY well indeed.

Post three stills from the same time and let's take a look at them. To do this, put the videos on three tracks, set the cursor where you want, line them up, then solo each track and take a snap.

    Best NLE: Sony Vegas Pro

  5. How did you position the cameras and what is the field of view?

    How much "overlap" was there?

Were the cameras locked off and stationary ?

If it was positioned manually , you probably need to align and match the shots

Did you use the same camera model and lenses (eg. different lens distortions, optical characteristics will make matching more difficult)

Provide a better description or sample clips
