you can try this hack here - https://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks?dvdplayer=LG+HT963SA.&hits=50&Search=Search but there's no guarantee that it'll work, especially if you recently bought the player.

october262, first of all thank you for taking you time to reply to my post, it is appreciated. I had tried those instructions prior to posting (in hinsight, I should've mentioned it in my intial posting). It didn't work.
Any other ideas? -
When hacks no longer work, the manufacturer has usually updated the firmware to permanently break the hack. You can try to find an old firmware and see if you can install it, but some players won't allow you to downgrade firmware and there is some element of risk involved in attempting this. Your player is an old model so at this point the odds are that you will never be able to unlock it.
At this point in time it's just about impossible now to buy any DVD or BluRay players off the shelf and unlock them with a code. The only sure way to get a region free player is to buy from resellers who have modified the hardware to unlock the player independently of any firmware on the player. These hardware modifications do mean that the players cost more than the store models that can't be unlocked, but at least this way you know the player can be unlocked. Resellers include

Amazon sometimes sells models that claim to be unlocked, but some user reviews report that the players can't really be unlocked. Others report that the players really were region free. If you buy from Amazon, be sure to read the reviews to see if any users reported problems. And do note that unlike players at the 2 sites I listed, if you buy from Amazon it may not have modified hardware which means you should NEVER attempt to upgrade the firmware or you may permanently lose region free playback.
