Does burning TAO perform better than DAO ?
I know you need DAO for overburning, but does anyone know if
Track at Once generally produces different results as Disk At Once, in terms of DVD Playback ? I'm having issues near the end of my SVCD's and I'm wondering if it's a media issue or the burning method (i've lowered speeds, and that helps, but still experience some issues). The media I am noticing problems with is a generic Black media type.

No. TAO is very inefficient. It probably doesn't even work for VCDs. On audio CDs, the reason there is a "two second gap" (sometimes longer) is because the laser actually turns off and back on for each track. Each "track" written using TAO has a heading which is more wasted space on the disc. DAO has one heading.

dphirschler is correct,TAO is for multi-session disks(cd-r/w)where you
want to add data at a later date.DAO is a closed-session disk for
mastering and playback on vcd, dvd,cd players. -
Thanks for the responses. It's odd, in another forum someone suggested that it shouldn't make a difference for the SVCD playback performance.
I have been trying to determine why I have playback issues near the end of my disks sometimes. Burn speed, media type, and now this setting I was wondering if it played into the issue... -
It shouldn't actually make a difference if you are making a S/VCD (as long as your burning proggy/burner knows what it is doing). However, as S/VCDs must be closed, there is no benefit in burning TAO (and some potential risks).
IMHO, DAO is better.

Hmmmm.... Ok, explain this...
I went to burn some BIN/CUE images (SVCD)... and every attempt on every media set on DISK AT ONCE using NERO 5.5.8.0 created nothing but unreadable coasters... on 2 different media types.
But TRACK AT ONCE produced perfect disks (better on silver media than black, because on the black I had some issues near the end of the movie when watching on my Apex AD-1100w).
It must be that DISK AT ONCE is a NO CAN DO when burning CUE images!!! -
CUE/BIN images are meant to be burnt as DAO.
There is probably something wrong with how Nero works with your burner.
I strongly suggest that you try CDRWin (Goldenhawk invented CUE/BIN format) or CDRDAO.
