Hi all, just discovered this forum and it seems to be a great resource for recording streaming video, and hopefully someone can chime in and advise if what I want to do is possible.
I'm trying to record the video streaming from this website: http://globalnews.ca/video/embed/490181/ I have managed to obtain an F4M manifest using the HDS link detector for Firefox, however, when I run it through the adobehds.php script I get an error stating that "This stream is encrypted with Akamai DRM. Decryption of such streams isn't currently possible with this script." Just wondering if there is any way to record or if I'll have to resort to screen capture software.
Thanks in advance!
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays!

You can record the ios (hls/m3u8) version with Livestreamer on the command line. Use "hlsvariant".
-
I can't play the video ^^" and with my software, I can just download an .mp4 ad video when I check your link.
But the method of blimey seems to work. -
Thanks for the replies guys, I've got livestreamer installed; what would the command be to download the stream? I'm currently using "livestreamer.exe hlsvariant://http://globalnews.ca/videoca/video/embed/490181/" and just get the error "error: Failed to parse playlist: Missing #EXTM3U header"
Thanks again! -
because
"livestreamer.exe hlsvariant://http://globalnews.ca/videoca/video/embed/490181/" is not the good code
you need to find the playlist .m3u8
"livestreamer.exe hlsvariant://http://..................................m3u8 best -o video.ts"
for the moment i can't find .m3u8 because i have a message that say the stream live is not currently online
i don't know if it's really offline or if it's local restriction
it't online for you? -
I see, I suspect the stream may be geo-restricted to Canada, it is available for me at the moment.
I'll have a look at the html source and see if I can track down the m3u8 url. -
I see. I'm gonna test something! to see if I can help you too, but I try that later.

Now I can play the video but my softwares can't download it : ( i'm very sorry. Maybe with more powerful software like rtmdump

The m3u8 link will look something like this, but with different values (instead of "x") for the various codes;
Code:https://bc1news-lh.akamaihd.net/i/bc1news_1@101917/master.m3u8?hdnea=ip=xx.xx.xx.xx~st=1422166769~exp=1422167369~acl=/i/*~id=xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx~hmac=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Code:livestreamer "hlsvariant://https://bc1news-lh.akamaihd.net/i/bc1news_1@101917/master.m3u8?hdnea=ip=xx.xx.xx.xx~st=1422166769~exp=1422167369~acl=/i/*~id=xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx~hmac=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" best -o output.ts
Code:http://link.theplatform.com/s/dtjsEC/8OOALgPneHOy/file.m3u8?feed=GlobalNews%20webM%20%26%20mp4&format=SMIL&callback=jQuery183038696371404722285_1422075426436

blimey, you are brilliant! works perfectly, thank you so much! I did manage to dig up a couple of other m3u8 urls by examining the html/js source but kept getting a 403 forbidden error when trying to play it in livestreamer, your URL works great.
Thanks again for all your help guys!! -
Hi. I'm trying to use livestreamer to get an mp4 of a stream. The rtmp:// address ends in a "redirect/vod". But there's also the problem of the address of the actual mp4 which I can see part of when I inspect the player. Only it says "url": "mp4:...." ending with a .mp4. I'm not sure how to put all of this information together. I've tried to cobble together some addresses but I've either gotten the exceeded redirects error, the get address info fail or Missing #EXTM3U header.
