  1. As described here http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/cpcontent.pl?ctn=BDP3480/05&dct=FUS&did=ENG&reldct=...scy=GB&slg=ENG
Blu Ray play via CVBS with the new firmware is disabled
This is not fair. Philips disabled me a function via software...
Do you know if is there a way to play Blu Ray disc via CVBS (or RCA, SCART) again?
    Thanks

This is exactly why I always tell people NOT to ever apply any firmware upgrades to their players. The upgrades usually only fix problems that very few people have and sometimes they take away functionality. This is why I don't recommend that people connect their players to the internet. You can't get upgraded if you aren't connected.

The only solution I can think of is you can try to find an older firmware and see if you can load it, but some players do not allow you to ever downgrade the firmware. If this is the case with Philips, there's nothing you can do. You can look online to find a re-seller of region free models. They have to do hardware modifications to make the players region free and it may be possible that one of the modifications they do allows playback over old analog connections.

The current BluRay licensing forbids output over anything but HDMI so you'll have to find an older player if you can't downgrade the firmware and can't find a region free player that still allows video over analog outputs.

  3. Thank you!
I'll follow your advice in the future.
I bought that player also to watch Youtube in an old tube Tv and for this reason I made the unfortunate upgrade...
What I really don't understand is why BluRay licensees are interested if I watch an (original and from my region) BluRay with my old tube Tv (in standard definition) or with a new high definition Tv via hdmi.
Perhaps they think I'll be encoraged to buy a new Tv...
I wanna tell them that there are 3 old tube Tv waiting for me when the one I have now will break, so what I'll do will be not to buy any BluRay movie.
If this is the goal they wanted to reach...they've succeded

Analog video can't be copy protected, so it's possible to record it. That is why the current BluRay license doesn't allow for analog outputs. They want you to buy new equipment that uses HDMI if you don't already have equipment that uses it because HDMI can be copy protected. It is possible to remove HDMI copy protection, but such devices are illegal in some countries like the USA so the people who license BluRay aren't very worried that many people will know about these devices and use them.
