I am dubbing a documentary (in Audition) and I am wondering is there an automatic way to make the original sound go quieter when my voice is playing? It would really save a lot of time.

  2. There are a number of tutorials, google "adobe audition side chain auto duck." I wouldn't use it personally, so can't vouch for any of the methods.

Duckers work, but the trick to getting them to sound good and not produce pumping is judicious use of attack and release times. I have my own bag of tricks to improve it but Audition is not powerful/versatile enough to pull it off.
