I had home movies converted to DVD (VOB files). I need to import them to Movie Maker to edit / add sound etc. But when I import a 12 minute file it turns out to be 8.52 seconds. I can double click the file and it is indeed over 12 minutes. But I have imported it several times and always it ends after those 8 seconds. I have already wasted two hours on this supposedly simple process. Please help.

Drop the VOB into MediaInfo, tree view and export as text and paste here so we can see what you are working with. Either the file is corrupted or MM is confused.

    And welcome to our forums.

Thanks so much for quick response. I don't understand though. I went to that MediaInfo page and clicked a download but my computer says it doesn't know how to open it.

Stop messing with VOB files. They are pretty useless outside of the DVD environment. Use VOB2MPEG to revert them back to their original MPEG2, then add that to your program of choice.

I use an OLD version of MediaInfo (0.7.35) before they added that malware/spyware crap and it works just fine.
