Hi. I'm backing up some DVDs which contain a couple of episodes each. I've had a lot of success using PGCDemux, and then Vob Id to demux the episode that I can then re-encode using different programs. However, on one episode, I tried to demux the Vob Id, but it gives me a file that is shorter and smaller in filesize then what is described (i.e. ~3/4 of an episode).
What I did:
-- PGCDemux > Input Ifo > Chose Output folder > Mode 'by Vob Id' > From dropdown, VID 03 (01:01:28.24) > Process! > Processes to 62%, pauses, then 'Finished OK' > Checked the subtitle, audio and video.
-- Then I checked whether I could actually play the part of the episode that wasn't outputting, opened Vob ifo navigated to the episode, VLC was able to timeseek throughout the part that wasn't outputted (flicked through multiple points), so pretty confident it actually exists.
-- Went back to PGCDemux, tried to output separately the Cell Ids for Vob Id. For Vob Id 3, it contains 3 cells. I outputted each, and the last cell only managed to 7% before finishing - e.g. it should have given me a 700mb 20 minute file, but outputted a 50 mb 1 minute file.
-- Used Ifo mode on DVD Decrypter, outputted the the cell (05 in this case), and again, did not output the complete file. Tried outputting by Vob Id (3 in this case), and gave me the non-complete file that PGCDEmux also output.
I have a suspicion that it could be to do with the DVD being dual layer (and therefore VIDEO_TS of 7.9GB; episode 4 and 5 output fine), but although I've looked through the forums, can't find a solution (I have tried all combinations of ticking Options such as unchecking Create PGC VOB).

Without seeing/knowing the disc I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to achieve but deep in DVDDecrypter's settings there are SPLIT BY options out the wazoo.

Hi - I'm using PGCDemux to separate the VIDEO_TS into episodes, and then encode these using another program. Vob Id 1,2,4,5 (representing episode 1,2,4,5) output their correct length and size, but Vob Id 3 (containing cells 3, 4, 5) doesn't output fully (length suppose to be 1hr, outputs 38mins). Found the problem was Vob Cell 5 which should output 24mins, but outputs 1min. Checked original VIDEO_TS, and is fully seekable for that episode in VLC.
Now I'm trying to figure out why cell 5 won't output fully. -
Also, I was watching the progress as I tried to output VOB Id 3 from DVD Decrypter. As it was writing to disc, it told me size: 1,954,578 KB. When it got to Cell: 5, the transferred status was stuck on 1,230,346KB - the bar continued to move till 100%, checked the files, and once again 38 min vid instead of 1hr.

Hi, some resolution on this topic: VideoReDo seems to have done the job, I cut the episode manually after making it into one big mpeg.
DVD Shrink didn't work for some reason on my Win 7 x64 computer, neither did getting out the actual disc and trying to get that part, I have a suspicion that it might be to do with dual layer disc, but everything is working a charm now!
EDIT: VideoReDo is able to cut, but doesn't seem to have subs, using Mpeg2Cut2 which is cutting files with subs.Last edited by guest; 18th Jan 2015 at 01:37.
