Running Vegas Pro 8 - if I want to drag a particular chunk of video/audio to a different video track at the exact same time position, can it be quickly done like it can be with audio apps? Haven't found anything about it in the manual so far.

What does drag mean ? You can't "drag" it unless that section is already split (not a continuous, uncut track)

If it's not split, split it (s key).

Or you can just copy or cut the segment. Dd you want to leave the rest of it there, or leave a gap on the source track ?

set loop region (drag right to left so the playhead is at the start point), either cut or copy (control + x or control + c) , select the destination track and paste (control + v). The playhead marks where it will be pasted (hence the reason for doing the loop region right to left)

Right, as mentioned, a chunk of a particular video.

Turns out at least one way to do it is to select the particular event and use the number pad 8up/2down arrows to shift it to different tracks.
