  1. Hi all,

I'm having some major problems resizing in CCE. (I know CCE can't) But i tried 3 different method, and all failed.

1st. I create a D2V file using DVD2AVI, and used it's internal Clip&Resize option. The convert it to dummy AVI using VFAPIconv. It took me a while to figure this one out, but it doesn't clip !!! it just cuts. I lost a lot of screen using this. Not Good.....

2nd. Create a D2V file and import it into TMPGenc. Do the resizing there and save the TPR file. Run that through VFAPIconv. It runs nicely in WMP, but when i try to Encode in CCE, it hangs (No messages, just stops directly at a blank encode screen.) Plus.... I read that VirtualDub has a far better resize filer. So...

3rd. Create a D2V file and import it into VirtualDub Set-up the resize filter and start frameserver. It outputs a file, which i have NEVER EVER been able to open. I've tried to get this to work (On about a million different configs and PC's) and I can't get it to work. WMP just saids : "Cannot play back file. Format is not supported."

So i'm a bit at a loss here.

    ----update----
Just found out that CCE run very crappy. Some how it now keeps crashing when trying to do certain things..... It doesn't seems to like some of the Convertion tools i use.
    ----update----

    Anyone got any ideas.

    Thanx in advance.

  2. Try the following avisynth script:

    LoadPlugin("path.to.mpeg2dec.dll")
    Mpeg2Source("filename")
    BicubicResize(480,480,0.00,0.75)
    ResampleAudio(44100)

That should work, it will load an mpeg2 source (svcd, vobs) and resize it to 480x480. If you are encoding avi files just replace Mpeg2Source with AviSource.

  3. Xaanin:

Thanx for the solution, but i don't like avisynth. I know it works, but i like programs you can change settings a bit easier. For me it's good as a last resort, but for now i would like to know HOW to framserve using Vdub. Which seems to be the best option.

(Before people start asking...) I installed Vdub, installed the Aux-driver throught the setup. Openend the dummy avi file (Which plas fine in wmp) and selected the filters i need. Then started frameserving and saved the file as "movie.avi". but when i try to open this file wmp can't play it

  4. What version of CCE are you using?

  5. Hi all,

    I'm using CCE v2.64.01.02 SP.

I've been mailing with Sefy last week, but somehow i can't get the whole to work. I was trying this at work on a test pc, but when i install CCE stand alone it does very wierd things like hang or refuse to encode.....

So i installed the Adobe Plug-In version and FlaskMpeg, but when i install Flask, it crashes upon exit. It also does this after encoding. So when i encode a file with Flask it encodes the movie and upon completion it crashes and i end up with a 0 bytes file......

The strange thing is, that i thought it would be these stupid Compaq PC's we use at work that where the problem. But when i came home last friday and tried it there, the same thing happend. I NEVER had problems like these on my pc, coz i only use brand stuff. (ASUS P3B-F board, SB-LIVE, etc, etc,) never wierd cheap brands.

(Only problem i can think of now is that it's Windows 98 SE related. I'm going to try running the programs on Windows 2000 today.)

So... If anybody has ANY ideas about how to fix my problem(s) it would be greatly apreciated.

  6. Well that explains alot. You cannot frameserve with VD to CCE 2.64, you need 2.50 to do that.

  7. Why Not ?

And secondly, is there a quality difference between files encoded with 2.50 or 2.64 ???

Third, why doesn't Flask work. Sefy uses it with the 2.64 version and Flask supports VOB files, so no frameserving is needed....

    Thanx for the fast replies.

  8. You say i can't frameserve with VD. Does this mean VD only, or just fameserve in general which doesn't work. I'm frameserving using TMPGenc and VPapi v1.04

You can frameserve via TMPG (project) / VFAPI to CCE SP 2.64, but not from VD to CCE directly.

If CCE SP 2.64 do nothing, then the trial is probably expired. It comes with a hidden 30 days limit.

I've only been trying CCE 2.64 for a couple of days now, so the "hidden" trail period isn't over yet for sure. But it just gives strange errors. I'm currently doing what i wanted to do but instead of W98SE i'm using W2K SP2 and instead of CCE 2.64 i'm using 2.50. This works great, but i still can't figure out why 98 and/or CCE2.64 gave me these problems.

2.6x changed the read method of getting a file. It pulls the file directly, instead of reading it through Windows routines.

  12. Oh, well,

As long as the quality is the same, i don't mind.

    Thanx everybody for the help.
