    Texas, So you use VRD to edit then MKVmerge? Wouldn't it be better to use MKVmerge first to fix the bad frames then VRD to edit?

    Other people I've talked to at AVS forum first use tsdoctor to clean up the file, Then tsremux & then VRD to edit.
    Not sure which is the best way at this point. I'm trying to figure it out also..

    VRD has a Quick Stream Fix feature to deal with errors in the transport stream. TS-Doctor has a similar feature. Some people prefer one, some prefer the other. Using a transport stream (.TS) for capture tends to work best for devices in Hauppage's HD-PVR product line. Re-multiplex to MKV after editing.

    Is that some hardware restriction? Or just software?

    Newest Hauppauge Capture seems to allow uncheck "Disable HDMI AC3 Support" (it makes no difference, as it does NOT decode/capture 5.1 AC3) but original Arcsoft ShowBiz 3.5.41.83 with latest drivers HD PVR 2 Windows driver version 1.6.34039 seems to have it force disabled (so looks like hardware restriction)

    No not some hardware restriction the first model didn't have right hardware for capturing AC3

    If it not stick then
    Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\
    Find {4d36e96c-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
    Find isAC3enabled then change 0 to 1
    Reboot

    If the hardware does NOT have it, then registry entries will make no difference, right?
