  1. Hi all.

    Question 1:
What video editor gives me greatest control over my movie so that I can edit it by cutting off pieces I do not want, but keep the original encoding. I do realize that this may mean I am limited in editing to cut at certain frames (i-frame). I mostly work with mpeg AVC part 10.

    Question 2:
I also want the sound to be encoded so that as much as possible of the original is kept. Is it even possible to cut out a piece of a sound track without full re-encoding of the second piece, if so, which editor can do this? I mostly work with AAC.

It would be nice if the editor is able to handle mkv containers directly.

    Thanks.

Avidemux. Under video and audio use copy mode.

Or commercial editors like solveigmm video trimmer, videoredo h264 suite, tmpgenc mpeg editor.
