Do I need LAV filters?

Often, reading posts here and on doom9, and looking at posts on various program sites I often come across recommendations to install LAV filters.

Do I need, or should I install LAV filters? Would there be any gain?

Or, considering the programs that I use, as listed below, might I be biting off more than I can chew?

• DVDFab all programs lifetime licence
• AVStoDVD (AVISynth, FFMpeg, FFDShow, Haali, et al)
• ConvertxtoDVD for those times when AVStoDVD can't handle a movie
• AVCHDCoder (x264, Java, eac3to, bdsup2sub, et al)
• tsMuxer 2.11 (very occasional use)
• IMG Burn
• MKVToolNix
• WinFF
• Subtitle Edit
• MKV Chapterizer
• FileBot
• MediaInfo
• VobBlanker
• Handbrake (with libdvdcss.dll added, but still have lots of problems with this one)

For playback I use PotPlayer.

I guess the old saying "if you don't know that you specifically need it, then you probably don't" might hold true?

I wish I could use x64 tools exclusively, but there are a number of conflicts with these programs, Firefox, FileBot and Java, so everything is 32 bit.

PC runs 32gb DDR3-2400mhz, I7-4790K @ 4.2ghz (minor OC due to it being a hot summer here), GTX 660Ti 2GB, Dual 27" monitors with 2x Blu-ray burners and 27TB disk space (if specs have any relevance to using various codecs/filters).

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

LAV Filters can be used by DirectShow-based media players, or by Avisynth (via DirectShowSource or DSS2mod).
Since you seem quite satisfied with PotPlayer, then the answer is "no, you don't need LAV Filters".
Even though you MAY use LAV Filters in PotPlayer

Also, keep in mind that PotPlayer is largely based on (¿stolen?) FFmpeg's source-code,
and LAV is just a DirectShow "wrapper" for the FFmpeg libraries
