Hi,
I just got a new Onkyo TX-NR636 7.2 receiver, so I wired the speakers from my old LG hb906pa 5.1 receiver.
BUT the subwoofers dont work. I first wired it into ''zone 2 '' then figured out it was RCA connection.
Do i need to buy RCA subwoofer or there's a way to connect my old sub (raw cable jack)?
if i have to buy new sub, which one should i take ?
thanks and sorry for my english (i hope you understood what i mean) .

thank you for your answer .
I have no idea if my sub has its own amplification, but i just noticed that the Impedance is only 3ohm and my receiver suggest 6 to 16 ohm.
So does it mean i have no choice but buying a new one -

the model number is LG SH96TA-W. there is no volume knob on it
And for the ohm, i didnt even know what it means. The instruction manual say:
'' Important: Connect speakers with 6 Ω to 16 Ω impedance.
Using a speaker with less impedance than the supported
value may result in failure.'' -
I checked the specs in the link below and it indicates that the subwoofer is passive, e.g. it has no built in amplifier, so it does have to be connected to a speaker out connecter not an rca connector.
It seems that buying a separate active subwoofer is your best option.

sorry for bothering you again
I have to change all my speaker because they are 4 ohm.
so i found this 7.1 package on ebay : same brand, same Watt and 6 ohm. (i need 6 to 16)

do you think the subwoofer is what i need ? i dont know how to find if it's an active or passive subwoofer -
I suppose the correct answer is 'do not even think of trying to connect 4 ohm speakers to an amp that is rated 6 ohm minimal' but eh well in the real world that may be different.
It kind of depends how good your amp is, some have more trouble with lower ohms than others.
The subwoofer from the ebay package is definitely active.
