Software??.Need to add Widescreen Black Lines top and bottom

Hey Im looking for something and I hope someone can help.


I am making VCDs with the Terapin www.terapintech.com VCD Recorder when Im coping Video from TV, DVD, or VHS.

Most of the things I copy from VHS and TV have commercials in them. I need to find a software so I can take the VCD I made from the VCD recorder, put the VCD onto the harddrive and then be able to edit the Video from the VCD.

I need to be able to edit out the commercials.

I also have another problem and looking for software that will do this too. The VCD recordings from TV and VHS to VCD all have a little while line at the VERY top of the screen.
I need to find software that adds the Black Lines, Kinda like the WIDESCREEN black lines on DVDs into the Video that I am editing. I need to be able to add the black lines at the top and bottom to make the shows look widescreen and then it would take out that little white line at the top.

Also many shows that I record from TV do not have widescreen black lines on them but on the TV shows that are made into DVDs have the black lines.

When Im recording StarGate from TV, I would like to be able to edit the commercials and add the little black lines at the top and bottom of the video.

I hope someone knows what Software this is and where I can find it to buy it.


Or or some reason this doesnt exist, is there editing software that will help cut, or Crop the very top of the video so I can get rid of the white line???

To do that type of editing that will provide the widescreen format i usually use powerdirector from cyberlink: http://www.gocyberlink.com/english/products/product_main.jsp?ProdId=45

it does everything from editing to burning the vcd for you. all you need to do is import the file then drag and drop to the tv looking screen on the left hand side then click on the trim mode (3rd on the wheel). (wheel is on the left side of the tv window) once that is done there will be a drop down box under the wheel that says resize, stretch is there by default. instead of stretch choose 1:1 fit it will then put it in widescreen format. click apply under the tv screen VERY IMPORTANT to do that if not you wont save it that way. then your movie or tv eps will be ready for editing when finished click on the last option on the wheel produce movie it will bring up the produce movie window click video for movie disk production and choose vcd or svcd or DVD, or you can do video for general purposes and pick mpeg1/mpeg2, windows media, or avi. whichever media you want. to edit out commercials i use adobe premiere with the razor tool i find it alot faster. then powerdirector. i will export the file in premiere using panasonic mpeg encoder then use cyberlink to burn a vcd. right now im editing babylon 5 eps i had on tape and converting them to vcd and i record The West Wing and Startrek Enterprise every wednesday night using my capture card. i find doing it this way is alot faster then tmpgenc or virtualdub both of which crashes on my computer. anyways i hoped i have helped you

That looks like what Im going to have to buy. I just bought the Broderbund ExtremeMedia Digital Studio Video editing, capture, ect....and I CANT find out how to use it......

Do you know anything about the software????

I also copy many things like Enterprise, Stargate, X-Files, ect.....almost any sci-Fi show.

I have the www.terapintech.com recorder which I use and its a really cool machine.

You do not need to buy anything:

First get VCDGear to extract the MPEG file from your dat file (freeware - in the Tools section)

Then use TMPGEnc to cut the unwanted portions (MPEG tools).

You can leave the little white line - it s due to overscan and does not appear when you play the files on your TV.
