I am using a microphone on both XLR inputs on a Canon XF100 When converting MXF files to AVI in order to do editing, there is sound only on one channel when playing back the AVI file. However when playing back the MXF file on the Canon XF Utility, there is sound on both channels. I have tried 3 different MXF converters and I get the same result. Operating system is Win7 64 bit.

We don't know how you have your Canon set up (no MediaInfo yet...), so can't comment until you've provided same. However, some MXF audios are mono, some stereo (2ch) and some 4ch. Could very well be that yours isn't standard stereo and "all those" mxf converters (which are almost ALL based on mediocre frontends to ffmpeg) aren't set up to correctly handle your material.

I myself have had trouble with Audio-only MXFs in many of those stupid converters and I gave up on them and learned the command-line switches necessary for me to do it myself, using ffmpeg or ffmbc. That was the ONLY way (barring expensive commercial alternatives) that I was able to successfully rewrap and/or convert my files. Again, thanks to sites like this and Doom9, AVSforum, etc.
