  1. picvideo mjpeg is your best bet for capture if you are stuck for disk space

  3. Use the DivX low motion codec or MS MPEG v2 -- you wouldnt want to set the bitrate any higher than 6000. 6000 is really excessive. take a look at this http://www.doom9.org/codec_comparison.htm
    Dont try the fast motion codec (or MS MPEG4v3)-- the slider
    sets the maximum bitrate not the average (the average is locked at 300).
